About us
Communal Bodies creates environments for ritual, restoration, and collective care.
Communal Bodies develops environments designed for social connection, nervous system regulation, and collective restoration.
The company works across bathhouses, recovery spaces, and emerging models of communal care — helping hospitality groups, developers, and cultural brands translate the growing demand for rest, ritual, and sensory experience into meaningful places.
Our work sits at the intersection of hospitality, wellness, and cultural ritual. Drawing from global bathing traditions and contemporary recovery practices, we design environments that support presence, connection, and embodied experience.
Projects may take the form of new bathhouse concepts, wellness environments within hotels, recovery spaces, or advisory work shaping how rest and ritual are integrated into a guest journey.
Communal Bodies believes the next era of wellness will be collective rather than individual — environments where people gather to regulate, restore, and reconnect.
Founder & Creative Director
Communal Bodies was founded by Mary Minas, an experience designer whose work focuses on the role of ritual, sensory design, and spatial environments in shaping human wellbeing.
With a background spanning wellness, startups, and filmmaking, she co-founded and led Sense Of Self (SOS), one of Australia’s leading wellness destinations, welcoming over 37,000 guests annually.
Her practice explores how contemporary hospitality can draw from ancient bathing cultures and collective rituals to create spaces that feel joyful and truly welcoming.
